There are several reasons why making homemade butter is the right choice:
1. Freshness: Homemade butter is made from fresh cream, which means it has a fresher taste than store-bought butter.
2. Control: When making homemade butter, you have full control over the quality of the ingredients used. You can choose to use organic cream or milk from cows that are grass-fed.
3. Healthier: Homemade butter contains no preservatives or additives, making it a healthier option than store-bought butter.
4. Sustainability: Making homemade butter is a sustainable practice since it reduces packaging waste and transportation emissions.
5. Fun and easy: Making homemade butter is a fun and easy DIY project that can be done with minimal equipment and time. It's a great way to involve kids and teach them about where their food comes from.
AND It’s cheaper!
Here is the recipe:
Whip heavy whipping cream until it turns into whipped cream, then keep whipping until it turns into butter. It’s that simple. The liquid that’s left over is buttermilk, so you no longer need to buy that either!
BEGIN WHISKING
IT WILL MAKE WHIPPED CREAM (add powdered sugar if you just want whipped cream and stop here)
FUN FOR THE KIDS TOO!
IT WILL BEGIN TO SEPARATE
STRAIN THE BUTTERMILK
VOILA!
When do add salt & what kind do you prefer for your butter?
Was in need of butter of dinner tonight.
A partial quart of whipping cream and a hand mixer (mea culpa) resolved my problem.
Fun, easy, and oh so tasty!
Thanks Chef!
